Deep-red Neocaridina with serious character.
Bloody Mary Shrimp are a selectively bred colour variety of Neocaridina davidi, prized for their rich, deep-red coloration and peaceful nature.
They spend much of the day grazing across biofilm, algae, plants, driftwood and other aquarium surfaces. Their small size and calm behaviour make them especially well suited to planted freshwater aquariums.
Our Bloody Mary Shrimp are being bred locally in Malta with a focus on healthy animals, stable aquarium conditions and responsible care.

Feeding
Bloody Mary Shrimp spend much of their time grazing on naturally occurring biofilm and algae. Their diet can be supplemented with quality shrimp foods, vegetables and occasional protein-rich foods.
Behaviour
Peaceful and active, Bloody Mary Shrimp spend much of the day exploring the aquarium and grazing across available surfaces.
Breeding
Mature females carry fertilised eggs beneath the abdomen until they hatch as miniature, fully formed shrimp. A mature aquarium with moss and plenty of biofilm gives shrimplets the best chance to thrive.
Colour Line
Bloody Mary Shrimp are best kept separately from other Neocaridina colour varieties when maintaining a strong and predictable colour line is important.

Yes. They are generally beginner-friendly when kept in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable water conditions.
Why are they called Bloody Mary Shrimp?
The name refers to their particularly deep and saturated red coloration compared with many other red Neocaridina varieties.
Can they live with other Neocaridina colours?
They can live together peacefully, but different Neocaridina colour varieties may interbreed. Over time, this can produce less predictable coloration in their offspring.
Do Bloody Mary Shrimp eat algae?
They graze on soft algae and biofilm throughout the aquarium, although they should not be considered a replacement for normal aquarium maintenance.
Do they need a heater?
That depends on the aquarium's room temperature. The important factor is maintaining a stable temperature within their suitable range.
